But the formulation of new recommendations by the American College of Cardiology Founation/American Heart Association (AHA)/Amerian College of Physicians Task Force on Clinical ompetence and Training in the statement on mulimodality noninvasive cardiovascular imaging offiially marks the beginning of a new era (1). We ave come to this point through a combination of ignificant refinements in echocardiography and raionucleotide techniques, the advent of cardiovascuar computed tomography and magnetic resonance maging, and a deepening appreciation for the comlementary roles these imaging modalities play in linical care. Possessing unique advantages and limiations, the application of a given modality should e dictated by the needs of a particular patient ather than the expertise of a particular cardiologist. t is no surprise, then, that cardiology fellows are inreasingly interested in learning and manipulating hese technologies themselves—while not wanting o unduly prolong their fellowship in order to accuulate the necessary expertise in a traditional, seuential mode of training. For example, under the existing COCATS reuirements, attaining Level 3 expertise in all 4 imging modalities would require 42 months if trainng in each technique took place consecutively (2). s it possible to maintain a quality of training while reating opportunities to develop expertise in more han 1 modality over the course of a more reasonble 3-year fellowship? The Task Force has anwered “yes.” By integrating different imaging mo-

oday’s trainees and early career physicians in cardiology have seen unprecedented changes in the health care landscape. Rapidly advancing imaging technology has helped clinicians take great strides in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease. Diagnostic tools have augmented patients’ medical histories and physical examinations in cardiology more than in most other medical fields. ...

s the chair of the Cardiovascular Imaging Section, I recently asked the members of the Imaging Council to consider multimodality imaging: its definition and application and the opportunities for tomorrow. The Council is composed of representatives from the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the Society for Cardio...

Molecular imaging using high-resolution PET instrumentation has a pivotal role in basic and clinical research. The development of optimized detection geometries combined with high-performance detector technologies and compact designs of PET tomographs has become the goal of active research groups in academic and corporate settings. More recently, the introduction of dual-modality PET/CT imaging...

OBJECTIVE The arrival of precision medicine plan brings new opportunities and challenges for patients undergoing precision diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors. With the development of medical imaging, information on different modality imaging can be integrated and comprehensively analyzed by imaging fusion system. This review aimed to update the application of multimodality imaging fusi...
متن کاملThe Clinical Role of Fusion Imaging Using PET, CT, and MR Imaging.
Multimodality image registration and fusion have a key role in routine diagnosis, staging, restaging, and the assessment of response to treatment, surgery, and radiotherapy planning of malignant disease. The complementarity between anatomic (CT and MR imaging) and molecular (SPECT and PET) imaging modalities is well established and the role of fusion imaging widely recognized as a central piece...
